Are You Helping...or Holding Someone Back?

Compassion is one of the greatest gifts we can offer another person.
But compassion has a shadow.
Sometimes what we call compassion is actually rescuing.
When someone is struggling, it's natural to want to ease their pain. We listen. We reassure. We solve problems. We become available every time they call.
At first it feels like kindness.
Over time, something begins to change.
Without realizing it, we may rob another person of discovering their own strength.
If every difficult decision is handed to someone else...
If every fear is calmed by another person's reassurance...
If every uncomfortable emotion is carried by someone else...
When do they learn to trust themselves?
Sometimes the most compassionate thing we can do is step back.
This is something I've had to understand in my own work as an intuitive reader.
People often come to a psychic hoping someone else will tell them what to do. While guidance can be comforting, my role isn't to make decisions for another person.
A reading is like someone holding up a mirror.
It may reveal patterns you couldn't see on your own.
It may bring awareness to fears, habits, relationships, or opportunities.
It may remind you of the wisdom your own heart has been trying to whisper.
But the reading doesn't live your life.
You do.
If I make every decision for someone, I may unintentionally weaken the very intuition they're trying to develop.
My hope is that each session leaves someone feeling more connected to themselves—not more dependent on me.
The greatest gift a reading can offer isn't certainty.
It's awareness.
And awareness becomes transformation only when we choose to act upon it.
Not because we don't care.
Because we do.
Growth requires space.
People discover courage by making decisions.
They discover wisdom by living with the results of those decisions.
They discover confidence by realizing they survived.
When we continually rescue someone from every uncomfortable feeling, we may also be rescuing them from their own growth.
This doesn't mean becoming cold or uncaring.
It means respecting another person's ability to become stronger.
It also means respecting ourselves.
Our time matters.
Our peace matters.
Our families matter.
Our own spiritual practice matters.
Healthy compassion doesn't require us to carry another person's life on our shoulders.
It walks beside them.
Not in front of them.
One of the greatest spiritual lessons isn't simply becoming aware of our patterns.
Awareness is the beginning.
Transformation is the practice.
Many people know exactly what habits, fears, or behaviors keep them stuck. The real work begins when they choose, day after day, to do something different.
Spiritual growth isn't measured by what we understand.
It's measured by what we become.
I don't believe intuition is meant to replace our own judgment.
I believe it's meant to strengthen it.
A good reading doesn't take your power away.
It gives it back.
It encourages you to become more aware, more present, and more trusting of the wisdom that already exists within you.
Because the goal isn't to need a psychic for every crossroads in life.
The goal is that, over time, you begin recognizing the quiet voice that has always been there—your own intuition.
That is where true spiritual growth begins.
