The Tarot Deck I Always Come Back To

Mpsychicreadings | MAY 22

I used the Thoth Tarot Deck in 1993. Then, in 1994, I started using this deck, The Moon Garden Tarot, and I still use it today. I actually consider this my first real deck because it’s the one I used when I began reading professionally for the public. Over the years, I’ve worked with many other decks, but I always find myself coming back to this one.

If you look at it now, the cards are worn, brown around the edges, and a little sticky from years of use. People always tell me they love that about them — that the deck feels alive, almost as if the energy from all those readings still remains within the cards. I did sage them regularly and even place powder between the cards so they don’t stick together. I’m pretty sure the newer revised editions look a little different now since they’ve been reprinted.

Part of me wonders if I should buy a new one… but another part of me feels like this deck and I have grown together over time. What do you think?

These cards work beautifully for both structured readers who enjoy memorizing tarot symbolism and intuitive readers who read through feelings, visions, and inner knowing. Each card captures a story and a feeling, and because the artwork is so detailed and layered, you may notice something different every time you look at it.

The busy imagery helps prevent you from becoming fixated on just one meaning per card. Instead, it encourages exploration, intuition, and emotional connection rather than only relying on logic or memorized definitions. The cards almost invite you to step into the scene, feel the atmosphere, and allow the message to unfold naturally. Click here to take a look at the Tarot of the Moon Garden.
